Episode 16 Interview with Katsuji Tanabe | Cambro Eats

In this episode we took a short trip north to LA County to visit Chef Katsuji Tanabe at his restaurant, The Nixon Steakhouse.

You probably recognize Chef Kat from one of his many restaurants across the US or from his appearance on TV – notably the show, Top Chef.

In this interview he talks about his background, getting his start in foodservice and of course, what Cambro products he relies upon. We had the opportunity to film the installation of Cambro Shelving at the Nixon Steakhouse and invite you to watch that video as well.

Cambro Eats Episode 5 – Interview with James Wright from Orange County Rescue Mission

On the show this week, we interviewed James Wright, the Food Service Manager at the Orange County Rescue Mission. While you may be familiar with various outreach programs, nationally or locally, from housing to feeding, the OC Rescue Mission, is a rather comprehensive, intesnsive 2-3 year program designed to really prepare those accepted for life-long success.

Like with most outreach programs, it begins with food.

In this interview, James discussed how their approach to foodservice, including donations, working with volunteers and on-site staff really dispels many preconceived notions.

The impact of the OC Rescue Mission in Orange County cannot be understated.

Episode 3: Interview with Emily Burson and Brandon Neumen from School Nutrition Plus

This week we switch gears and talk school food.

On the show this week is Emily Burson, founder and owner of School Nutrition Plus, a Southern California company that provides made from scratch school meals. Emily and Brendan Neumen, VP and Exec Chef, have teamed up to give schools access and education to their approach to school food.

They are launching a cookbook based on their tried and tested recipes in schools for home use. They want to engage and inspire parents and students alike to a fresh approach to school food.

The cookbook, A Chef Walks Into a Cafeteria… honors the flavor values of scratch cooking and will inspire families to cook together…with recipes actually served in the school cafeteria!

Episode 2: Lola’s Mexican Cuisine

This week we head just a few miles north of Cambro’s headquarters, up the 405 freeway, to Long Beach. There we visited Louis and Brenda Navarro, the husband and wife team and owners of Lola’s Mexican Cuisine.

They are growth-minded and it shows. In just ten years, they have two Lola’s locations, launched another concept The Social List and have even bigger plans underway.
